- RockEd Philippines founder Therese “Gang” Badoy Capati confirmed that Sharon Cuneta performed in the Bilibid
- She said it was a part of their outreach program
- “Sharon was so kind & generous to the inmates.” – Therese “Gang” Badoy Capati
RockEd Philippines founder Therese “Gang” Badoy Capati reacted to the alleged performance of Sharon Cuneta inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) as mentioned by NBP inmate Rodolfo Magleo in the congressional hearing on September 20.
On her Twitter account, Capati wrote that their group was the one who arranged for the ‘Megastar’ to perform inside the prison as a part of their outreach program.
She added that the performance came out on the singer-actress’ TV show.
“Sharon was so kind & generous to the inmates,” she added.
Capati emphasized that the performance was for free and she revealed that RockEd Philippines has been organizing concerts at the correctional facility and lots of bands have played inside with them.
Her statement coincides with the statement that was released by Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan over the issue.
On his website, the senator wrote: “On July 10, 2012, Sharon went to the New Bilibid Prison for the taping of her talk show, ‘Kasama Mo Kapatid,’ which had an episode featuring the life of inmates,” Pangilinan said.
“She sang four songs for the closing portion, which is the customary format of the show. She sang ‘Maging Sino Ka Man,’ ‘Tubig at Langis,’ ‘Kahit Konting Pagtingin,’ and ‘Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko’ but only to support RockEd’s outreach program for prisoners.”
Aside from Sharon, the other celebrities who were mentioned by Magleo are music icon Freddie Aguilar, sexy comedienne Ethel Booba, all-female singing and dancing group Mocha Girls.
ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying: “During the tenure of then-secretary de Lima, ang maximum security compound ay tinaguriang (the maximum security compound was dubbed as) ‘Little Las Vegas’ and at the same time, ‘Wild (Wild) West
It was called ‘Little Las Vegas’ dahil maraming concerts na nangyayari (because of the many concerts that happened) and [these were] not ordinary concerts. Concert ito ng mga celebrities, mga famous celebrities katulad nila (These are concerts of famous celebrities like) Freddie Aguilar, Sharon Cuneta. The Mocha Girls performed, [as well as] Ethel Booba. I cannot recall the name of the dancers anymore, and several comedienne, celebrities.”
