Despite reports that President Rodrigo Duterte isn’t in favor of having him as the host of the upcoming Miss Universe 2016 beauty pageant which will be held in the Philippines in January next year, American comedian and TV host Steve Harvey is excited to host the prestigious beauty pageant once again.
On her Twitter account, reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach shared a photo of her and Harvey during the Miss Universe 2016 beauty pageant with the caption: “TBT to the night that changed my life. (Steve Harvey), let’s do it again and change someone else’s life.”
The award-winning TV host replied: “Can’t wait, let’s do it.”
Harvey is under a multi-year contract with the Miss Universe Organization so he will definitely host the pageant in the Philippines.
According to an article published by ABS-CBN News, Harvey expressed that he wanted to personally apologize to the Filipinos after what happened during the Miss Universe 2015 beauty pageant, wherein he made a mistake in announcing the winner.
At first, he announced Miss Colombia, Ariadna Maria Gutierrez as the Miss Universe 2015, and Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach as the First Runner Up.
Gutierrez was already crowned by the previous Miss Colombia, Paulina Vega Dieppa, who won the Miss Universe 2014 title when Harvey said he made a mistake and the real winner is Miss Philippines and not Miss Colombia.
Harvey apologized for his mistake and denied that what happened was all part of a publicity stunt for the prestigious beauty pageant.
He was able to reach out and apologize to both Wurtzbach and Gutierrez over what happened during the coronation night.
