  • As soon as he eats the noodles, he started overheating and even had temporary hearing loss
  • The noodles, Indomie Abang Adek, was said to be 4000 times hotter than a Tabasco hot sauce

A London-based food blogger took an extreme gustatory challenge that rendered him temporarily disabled — eating the world’s spiciest noodles.

22-year-old chef and Youtube vlogger Ben Sumadiwiria visited a narrow back alley of Jakarta, Indonesia to look for a dish called ‘Indomie Abang Adek’.

Indomie Abang Adek, or death noodles, has been dubbed as the world’s hottest noodles containing 100 crushed bird’s eye chilies.

The noodles was said to be 4,000 times hotter than Tabasco sauce. It was given a rating of 20 million on the Scoville scale, the measurement of a chili’s hotness, as per an article published by Mirror. The Carolina Reaper, the world’s hottest chili according to Guinness in 2013, comes in at 1.57 million.

As seen in his Youtube video, Sumadiwiria started sweating and was becoming dizzy as soon as he wolfed down the ‘death noodles’. He couldn’t help but to soak his head in water and had to throw up multiple times outside in the street.

The noodles’ spiciness was so intense, he even went deaf for two minutes!

“This was definitely the hottest thing I’ve ever eaten. Within seconds of tasting them I was sweating and feeling sick,” Sumadiwiria said.

He continued: “We’ve done the calculations and these are definitely the hottest noodles in the world. They are definitely the hottest commercially available dish. I went temporarily deaf and my mouth was burning for hours afterwards.”

“You don’t really taste the noodles, it’s just pure heat with a tiny hint of noodles,” he added.

To get rid of the burning sensation in his mouth, the foodie had to down a milkshake and plenty of water but to no avail.

“My lips were burning and I couldn’t feel anything. I’ve eaten wasabi and plenty of other hot food, and I’d take that any day over those noodles,” he said.

Sumadiwaria shared he’s not partial to spicy food but he’s not one to back down on a  good challenge.

He has posted several crazy food challenges on his Youtube channel, Awesome Eats, including drinking cobra blood and competing against a friend to eat the most meat in one sitting.
