- James McAvoy plays a man with 23 multiple personalities in his movie Split

James McAvoy is set to appear in a new movie about a man with 23 multiple personalities.
The film Split follows the story of three girls who were abducted by McAvoy’s character Kevin, who suffers from dissociative identity disorder or the “split” personality disorder.
Young stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Jessica Sula, and Haley Lu Richardson, co-star as the girls who fall victim to Kevin after a day at the groceries.
Among the personalities that Kevin has include a sophisticated old woman, a nine-year-old boy named Hedwig, among others.
“He’s not allowed to touch you. He knows what you’re here for. He listens to me,” Kevin’s old woman personality explains, as seen in the YouTube trailer.
It appears, however, that Kevin is no ordinary case.
“I’ve never seen a case like this before. Twenty-three identities live in Kevin’s body… An individual with multiple personalities can change their body chemistry with their thoughts,” explains psychologist Karen Flethcher, played by veteran actress Betty Buckley.
However, deep within Kevin’s mind is a 24th personality called “The Beast” who begins to emerge.
“He’s done awful things to people. And he’ll do awful things to you,” warns the boy personality Hedwig.
The movie, directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan, is set to premiere on January 2017 after initial filming had begun in late 2015 in Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
Shyamalan says this is his longest project to date.
