Self-confessed drug lord Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa denied he backtracked from the statements he said against Albuera Police head Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido.

As per GMA News Online, Kerwin asked his lawyers, Lani Villarino and John Ungab, to issue a statement to members of the media telling them he did not make any backtracking.

Villarino said their client has written a letter in Cebuano stating he did not take back what he said against Espenido.

On Monday, November 28, Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said Kerwin has backtracked on his accusations against the police chief of Albuera town in Leyte. He said the drug lord told him during a meeting that Espenido did not receive drug money from him.

“I want to clarify or make the record straight na walang backtracking na ginawa si Kerwin Espinosa. What happened was that tinanong ulit ni General dela Rosa kung ano ba talaga si Insp. Espenido, kung tumanggap ba talaga ng drug money. Di ba, if you remember, during the Senate hearing and even in his affidavit, never na sinabi ni Kerwin na nagbigay siya kay Espenido,” Villarino said.

Kerwin was standing by his statement that it was Espenido who introduced him to Ronnie Dayan, Senator Leila De Lima’s alleged bagman.
