- Senator weighed in on ongoing protests against Marcos burial at LNMB
- He told protesters to forgive Marcos as he also had his faults, was merely human
- He also said burial will finally resolve the country’s decades-long divisiveness
MANILA, Philippines – Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Sen. Manny Pacquiao had this to say to critics of former president Ferdinand Marcos’s burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani as he told them to forgive the late strongman for his faults.
[Like I was telling them, the Lord forgives us, He is perfect, holy. How about us, are we holy? We also have our faults. Whoever is faultless and has not committed a fault, you have the right not to forgive.]
“Mga nagawa niya, dapat patawarin na lang sila [Whatever he did, let’s just forgive him],” the senator added.
Pacquiao also insisted that burying Marcos at the Libingan would help resolve the divisiveness that has been hounding the country for decades since the dictator’s death.
[It’s like this. That has been a very persistent issue. As long as he’s not buried, the issue will remain alive. As long as he’s not buried, the issue will not disappear. When he’s buried, the issue will no longer be talked about.]
