Singer Ogie Alcasid said it’s not getting a bigger talent fee that compelled him to go back to ABS-CBN after 25 years.
In an article written by Rachelle Siazon of PEP, it was disclosed that Alcasid denied in an interview that money is the reason why he went back to ABS-CBN.
“’Yung usaping pera kasi, I don’t really wanna talk about it. I don’t think it’s ethical for me to talk about it. But it has never been the priority of mine — money,” he said.
Despite acknowledging that money is a “valid” consideration when it comes to making a career move, Alcasid clarified that it is not on top of his list.
The famous singer said he will just go where the work is; where he can use his talent.
“As I said, I’ll go where the work is, and I stand by that,” he stated.
“At the time, that’s where I felt that I would be able to use the gifts that I was given. So I went there [in TV5],” he further noted.
In 1989, Alcasid made his debut as a singer. He started his television career as part of ABS-CBN but later transferred to GMA. He had been a part of GMA for 18 years before he transferred to TV 5.
Leaving TV 5, he said, was not an easy decision but he felt that the perfect time to come back to ABS-CBN has arrived.
