Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado went emotional after hearing the Tagalog Christmas song Sana Ngayong Pasko; saying she remembered her husband, former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., and father-in-law Ramon Revilla, Sr.
In an article written by Julie Bonifacio of PEP, it was disclosed that Lani was not able to control her emotions when the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) carolers started singing Sana Ngayong Pasko at the Bacoor Government Center.
“Aaminin ko na may isang awitin kayo na naluha ako, oo,” said Lani; pertaining to Sana Ngayong Pasko.
[I must admit that one of the songs that you rendered made me cry.]
In her speech, she mentioned her sadness over the Supreme Court’s (SC’s) decision to junk their family’s appeal for the dismissal of the plunder case filed against Bong. She said that was the reason why she cried upon hearing the song.
Voting 13-1, with one inhibition, the high court junked Revilla’s petition on Tuesday, December 6.
Lani, however, said they respect the SC’s decision.
Aside from the SC’s decision, another thing that has been making the Bacoor mayor lonely is the condition of her father-in-law, Ramon.
“Medyo naging critical siya noong Saturday e,” said Lani.
[He was in a critical condition last Saturday.]
Lani disclosed that Ramon was diagnosed with pneumonia. She, on the other hand, did not elaborate on the former actor and politician’s condition.
“We just asked for prayers again, for him,” she just said.
Ramon is now 89 years old.
