- Vice President Leni Robredo revealed her Christmas wish for Pres. Rodrigo Duterte
- She said she wants him to have “patience”
- Likewise, she sent her well-wishes to the President after the latter admitted he has several health concerns
When asked about her Christmas wish for the President of the Republic, Vice President Leni Robredo said she just wants him to have “patience.”
Robredo, who earlier resigned from Duterte’s Cabinet, likewise sent her well-wishes to the President, especially after his admission of several health concerns, including having “migraine every day,” Barrett’s esophagus, and Buerger’s disease, an article published by GMA News Online mentioned.
“‘Yung binigyan ng mandato para mamuno sa atin, ‘yung ating Pangulo. Kaya tingin ko kailangang pangalagaan niya din ‘yung kaniyang kalusugan kasi siya ‘yung naatasan na mamuno sa atin sa anim na taon,” Robredo was quote saying.
[The President was given the mandate to lead us. I think he needs to take care of his health because he was given that mandate for six years.]
As such, the Vice President also said that as a “matter of public interest,” the public needs to know about the President’s health.
In stating this, Robredo said that the public deserves to know the truth; noting that the President himself was the one who revealed his health condition which is not life threatening.
On the other hand, Pres. Duterte, who admitted his health problems, denied that he has cancer.
Also, Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella stressed there is “absolutely nothing to worry about”; saying Duterte’s complaints about his health condition are “part of wear and tear” which naturally and inevitably occurs as a result of normal wear or aging.
Aside from migraine, Duterte revealed he has Barrett’s esophagus; a condition in which the esophagus changes. He added that he also has Buerger’s disease; a rare disease of the arteries and veins in the arms and legs.
