Best friends-turned-lovers Paul Jake Castillo and Kaye Abad did their secret handshake first before sealing their wedding vows with a kiss; showing everybody that friendship could be the best and the strongest foundation of love.
The friendship between the two was highlighted in the wedding video posted by NicePrintChannel on YouTube. It’s so obvious how happy they are with each other’s company.
In her letter, Tabing Ilog star Abad, whose name is Katherine Grace in real life, expressed gratitude to her best friend — the man she chose to be her husband.
“To my best friend, sir, my love, and my soon-to-be husband, I’ll not make this long ’cause I know you hate reading long letters. Hahaha! I just want to thank you for making my dream and family’s dream come true,” she said.
Castillo and Abad officially got together in 2014. In 2015, he proposed to her, during a surprise birthday party for the actress; atop a high-rise building in Alabang.
But before that, as she admitted in previous interviews, Abad was really afraid to start a romantic relationship with him as she didn’t want to lose him as a friend.
“Ang hirap mag-take ng risk kasi magkaibigan (kami)… kung hindi mag-work, mawawalan na ako ng boyfriend, mawawalan pa ako ng kaibigan,” she said.
[It’s hard to take the risk because we were friends… if our relationship fails to work, I might lose my boyfriend, and a friend, as well.]
Castillo, however, had always believed that they could be together as a couple and had always looked at her as his future wife.
“We are taking it to the next level that’s why from friends, we became lovers… I don’t know what kind of relationship people are in if they don’t see themselves getting married,” he said in an earlier interview.
