According to an earlier update from netizen Enrique Ballon Gonzales, who has been tracking Jessie’s story on social media, “Kuya Rham” suddenly collapsed on Christmas Eve last year; shortly before ‘Noche Buena’.
He was confined for 5 days but was forced to leave the hospital due to lack of funds. He was then brought from Pasig to their home in Magallanes on January 7.
A week later, he was brought to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City, which is around a hundred kilometers from Magallanes. He was again brought home on January 15 after a day of confinement at BRTTH.
However, his condition worsened each day; surviving only on a diet of Bear Brand powdered milk and ‘linanot’ (a Bicol term for ‘lugaw’).
The diagnosis, based on BRTTH record, was ‘Immunocompromised pneumonia’.
On January 18, Jessie set off from Pasig City and pedaled his way to Bicol; hoping to see his brother alive.
But instead, he was met with the sad news a mere three hours before he reached home; a tragic end to his remarkable feat that left many people in awe and admiration, — and in tears.
