BB Gandanghari recalls ‘8th death anniversary of Rustom’

January 16, 2017  marks the eight ‘death anniversary’ of Rustom Padilla, the former action star and matinee idol in the country — well, that is as far as  BB Gandanghari is concerned as per her post on Instagram; marking at the same time the birth of a totally new person in BB eight years ago.

Gandanghari wrote in her post:

On Jan 16, 2009, many of you may have seen or watched the arrival of BB. Gandanghari at the Ninoy Aquino international airport declaring at the same time “Rustom is dead.” Today, I celebrate my 8th year of existence and boy, what a journey it has been. So far, SO GOOD though… well, despite all the not so good things that comes with it, you know discrimination, people’s judgement and scrutiny… and so much more. But that’s life, I’m telling myself, so I took it, even the most painful and hurtful words. And now, on this day, Jan 16, 2017, I once again acted on something that I have been contemplating for the longest time, even praying for it, and my GOD, on this day, willed it to be. THANK YOU! My heart is overflowing with joy for this answered prayer of mine and I am feeling strongly that a new chapter has just unfolded… So help me God! LOVE and PEACE everyone. CHEERS!!!

She expressed overflowing joy over yet another “answered prayer” but no other details would give us a clue on that.

Gandanghari  came out of the closet in 2006 during the celebrity edition of the ABS-CBN reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” when he told fellow housemate, Keanna Reeves, that he is gay, and it was one of the most memorable moments of the reality TV show.

It was in a TV interview in 2014 that she clarified she’s not gay but rather a transgender.

The journey she mentioned surely includes that day when BB Gandanghari’s petition to change her name and gender was approved by the Superior Court of California in the United States; officially making her a woman.

Gandanghari is presently in the US and studying at UCLA.
