- Miss Philippines happy with overall performance in Miss Universe
- She said she’s satisfied having reached the Top 6 of the pageant
- She thanked fans for support, told bashers to move on
MANILA, Philippines – Despite not giving the Philippines a rare two-peat, Maxine Medina said she’s pleased with her overall performance in the recently-concluded Miss Universe tilt.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Medina said she is happy having landed in the Top 6 and thanked her fans for their support.
“I’m good. I’m happy na at least nakapasok tayo sa [at least we reached the] Top 6. I hope I did my best. Thank you so much sa lahat ng mga Pilipinong sumuporta sa akin. Hindi kayo bumitaw [Thank you to all Filipinos who’ve supported me. You never wavered],” she said.
As to the bashers who questioned her performance in the Q-and-A portion, the beauty queen told them to move on.
“Well, let’s move on. It’s already done. Let’s have fun. At least Top 6 and Miss Universe happened here in the Philippines. It’s history.”
Medina’s boyfriend model Marx Topacio earlier praised her and vowed to take them to a vacation, win or lose.
“Ang layo ng narating niya. Sobrang proud ako dahil alam kong fighter talaga siya. Lahat gagawin niya para makuha ‘yung crown. Kahit hindi niya nakuha, proud pa din kami. At least tapos na, pahinga na. Lagi talaga kaming vacation niyan, lagi kaming on the go so at least magagawa na namin,” he said.
[She achieved so much. I am very proud because I know she’s a fighter. She’ll do everything to get the crown. Even if she didn’t get it, we’re still be proud. At least now it’s over, we can rest. We always go on vacations, we’re always on the go so at least we can do it again.]
