- The alleged plot to denigrate and eventually oust President Duterte is being investigated
- NSA Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. said he wants to look into it more deeply because it is a serious matter
- VP Leni Robredo denied she’s part of the ouster plan against the President
Presidential Communications Office Secretary Martin Andanar said Malacañang is investigating the purported plot of a group with supposed links to Vice President Leni Robredo to destroy the image and eventually oust President Rodrigo Duterte.
The supposed plot to oust President Duterte was reportedly discovered when a blogger ‘stumbled’ upon a Yahoo group called “Global Filipino Diaspora Council” (GFDC), some of whose members are believed to be backers of the vice president and are Liberal Party loyalists. The exchanges of emails between some members of the group showed the alleged plan to spread propaganda against the President.
The emails leaked by the blogger are now known as #LeniLeaks.”
According to GMA News Online, Secretary Andanar said National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. is currently looking into the matter carefully. Esperon said he wants to look into it more deeply as it is a serious matter.
Asked if he thinks Vice President Leni Robredo is behind the ouster plot, Secretary Andanar said: “We will see… It is under investigation.”
Vice President Leni Robredo had already issued a denial that she is a part of the ouster plot against the President.
“Ito pong oust Duterte [plot], siguradong hindi ako kasali. Kung mayroon mang ganyang plano. Unang-una sinasabi na kasali ako doon dahil sumama ako sa mga rallies against him (the president). Iyon po hindi totoo. Misinformed si Presidente doon,” the vice president said.
[I’m not part of this oust Duterte plot, that’s for sure. That is, if there’s such a plan. They said I’m part of it because I went to rallies against him. That’s not true. The President was misinformed.]
