MANILA, Philippines – A determined netizen has been gaining praises online after launching a campaign for his ill brother who is currently in a sickbed in the province of Sorsogon.
Jessie Halig, who is from the town of Magallanes in Sorsogon, is currently on a biking trek from Pasig City and started his journey last January 18.
In his Facebook post, Jessie said he is doing this for his sick brother named Rham.
“Magba bike ako para sayo kuya rham..Gusto ko lumaban ka..kaya mo yan..kaya natin..gagaling ka.. Padyak ko ito para sayo…” he wrote.
[I will travel by bicycle for you, my elder brother Rhan. I want you to fight. You can make it. We can make it together. You will recover. I’m doing this for you.]
Jessie reached Alaminos, Laguna hours later after starting from Manila last Tuesday. There, he was assisted by a group of bikers and the Bicolano lad said he’s very grateful.
As of Thursday, around 1:00 pm, he reached Naga City in Camarines Sur for a short lunch break.
Hours later, around 5:00 pm, he was in Ligao City, Albay. He is expected to reach his hometown Friday morning or afternoon.
Jessie did not say what kind of illness his elder brother has been suffering from, but he posted a harrowing picture of Rham on his Facebook.
The Manila-Sorsogon stretch is more than 500 kilometers and traveling by bus normally takes 10-12 hours barring any traffic or untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, many netizens were touched by Jessie’s effort which is borne out of his love for his brother.
“May the Lord God guide your trip. May the Lord God’s healing mercy be unto your brother. Keep the Faith,” one commenter wrote.
“God guide and protect you, Always and your beloved brother God heal him with your determination in life. God bless you always. Take care for your journey to fight for your brother…Kaya mo yan (You can do it)!!!” added another.
