Palace ‘disinvites’ VP Robredo to Vin d’honneur due to ‘limited guest list’

  • The OVP claims Palace has sent them an invitation for Robredo to attend the Vin d’honneur
  • However, the invitation was allegedly ‘retracted’ days later
  • The reason given was that there is a ‘limited guest list

MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Leni Robredo was supposedly ‘disinvited’ to the traditional Vin d’honneur hosted by the President for government officials and foreign diplomats to be held weeks after New Year.

This was confirmed by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) who claimed they received an invitation for the event from the Malacañang Palace last week of December, only to be retracted days later.

The reason given was that there is ‘limited guest list’.

“Our Office received an invitation to the Vin d’Honneur via email last December 28,” ABS-CBN News has quoted OVP spokesperson Georgina Hernandez as saying in a statement.

“On January 4, Malacañang called the Office to retract the invitation, stating that the guest list was limited,” the statement added.

The relationship between the President and the Vice President has been on shaky ground since Robredo resigned from the Cabinet last month after receiving a text message from a Palace official telling her to stop attending meetings.

The country’s top two officials has since been at odds on various issues including the alleged extrajudicial killings, the Marcos’ burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani and the reinstatement of death penalty, among others.

President Rodrigo Duterte has accused Robredo’s camp of joining anti-administration rallies and of allegedly plotting to undermine his leadership.

Of late, Robredo came under heavy criticisms after a blogger exposed ‘leaked’ emails’ from a Yahoo group  calling itself “Global Filipino Diaspora Council” (GFDC), whose members are said to be backing the Vice President, and  have supposedly been exchanging emails about its alleged plan to unseat Duterte.

Robredo has since vehemently denied the allegation, saying the President may have been ‘misinformed’.

  1. shaky ?? that is an understatement. Odds because of EJK etc. BS, she in bed with the “provocateur” Loida Nicholas Lewis, sabotaging the Duterte administration. Its only right she is excluded in any event of the administration. it was bad enough that she “won” by cheating now she exacerbated her precarious position by her treasonous actions. I say get her out of being VP by all legal means ASAP!
