- Former senator weighed in on De Lima’s arrest, detention
- He said she will now feel what he and his family felt when they were arrested
- He also offered words of advice to the senator
MANILA, Philippines – Former senator Bong Revilla Jr. said Sen. Leila de Lima has now gotten a taste of her own medicine and will get to experience what he and his family went through during his own arrest and detention.
“Ngayon naramdaman mo na rin kung ano ang naramdaman namin at ng aming pamilya [Now you feel what I and my family felt],” read his statement on his Facebook account.
Revilla was arrested together with fellow lawmakers Jinggoy Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile after they were slapped with plunder raps when De Lima was still justice secretary.
Enrile is out on bail while Revilla and Estrada are still detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame — the same facility which will hold De Lima.
In another post, Revilla also told the lady senator to welcome the trial as it would allow her the chance to clear her name.
“Senator De Lima, you should welcome this development as an opportunity to face the serious allegations against you in the proper forum,” he said. “Be strong and hold on to your faith. It is the only thing that keeps me going everyday while in detention. God has a way of meting out His Divine Justice.”
De Lima is facing charges for allegedly violating three sections of the country’ anti-drug trafficking law. Her former driver, Ronnie Dayan, has already been arrested and placed under the custody of the Muntinlupa police.
The other subject of the arrest warrant, former BuCor OIC Rafael Ragos, has yet to be apprehended.
