- President attended 18th birthday party of ‘OTWOL’ actress
- He advised her to hold off on love in the meantime, enjoy her life first
- Actress grateful for president attending her birthday, thanked him for advice
MANILA, Philippines – True love waits.
President Rodrigo Duterte had this to say to Ysabel Ortega when he attended her 18th birthday party last Friday night at Sampaguita Gardens in Quezon City.
In his speech, Duterte told the young debutante to enjoy her life first and not worry about finding her Mr. Right.
“Alam mo [You know], you are young, you are beautiful, and a simple woman. Do not hurry,” he told the ‘OTWOL’ actress. “There’s always time in this world. Time to be happy. Time to be sad. Time for victory. Time for defeat. Sa buhay mo [In your life], take it from me, do not be in a hurry to get emotionally involved. Hayaan mo muna silang [Let them] to adore you –a lot of guys will. But do not fall into the trap.”
Duterte added that falling in love right now for Ortega would just be a hassle but reassured her that her time will come.
Nakakasira talaga [ng buhay] iyan pa-in love, in love na iyan [Falling in love can wreck a life]. Make yourself an exception,” he told her. “Always, destiny would find somebody for you. Just remain beautiful. Enjoy your beauty as it’s a God-given gift and grow up to be a young beautiful woman and a good mother someday.”
Ortega, the daughter of former solon Lito Lapid and crooner Michelle Ortega, thanked the president for attending her party and giving her life advice.
“The fact that he made time for my birthday is grabe po. This is going to be a moment that I will remember talaga forever. Unforgettable po talaga and I’m really grateful,” she told ABS-CBN.
