MANILA, Philippines – The regional trial court hearing the drug raps against Sen. Leila de Lima has issued a warrant for her arrest.
Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 Executive Judge Juanita T. Guerrero issued the arrest warrant in connection with the three drug-related charges filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) against De Lima.
Also included in the warrant were De Lima’s former driver Ronnie Dayan and former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos.
Dayan and Ragos claimed to be De Lima’s bagmen who collected and delivered millions in drug money for her when she was still justice secretary.
The DOJ has accused De Lima of violating three sections of the country’s Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002 pertaining to the sale and trading of illegal drugs, conspiracy to sell and trade illegal drugs, and criminal liability of government officials and employees.
It is not known how the arrest warrant will be served as the Senate is currently presiding over an inquiry involving the ‘tokhang-for-ransom’ modus by scalawag police.
