- Two municipal councilors from Lanao Del Sur have been accused of ‘molesting’ DA chief Piñol’s female staff
- The ‘ill-mannered’ officials allegedly touched the woman’s behind while she was taking pictures
- The men also laughed after the incident
- Piñol demanded an apology from the two erring officials
MANILA, Philippines – Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Manny Piñol has taken to social media to express his disgust over an alleged molestation incident committed by two town officials from Lanao Del Sur on one of his female staff.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, February 19, Pinol said the incident took place during his recent visit to the province where he made commitments with Mayor Dimantang Pansar to deliver interventions worth almost P60-million for the development of the town of Butig.
Piñol said he was traveling last February 9 via a PAF chopper with some DA staff including two females, one of whom is an engineer assigned to the Farm to Market Roads Projects, when the two Butig municipal councilors committed the alleged act of lasciviousness.
“The staff, a good-looking engineer, said these two officials, whose names I still have to get, touched her butt while she was taking pictures and then laughed,” Piñol wrote.
The woman narrated the distasteful episode happened while the DA chief was busy talking to Mayor Pansar during an inspection of a damaged school building in Butig.
“I cannot let this pass. They not only molested my staff but they also insulted and disrespected me,” the angry Pinol said. “Had I known that right there and then, I would have slapped both of them in front of their Mayor.”
The DA secretary also threatened to put on hold the assistance for the town he earlier promised to deliver until the two ‘ill-mannered’ officials apologize to the female staff and to the public.
He also called on the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael Sueno to take necessary actions.
In Piñol’s latest update, he said that Atty. Kirby Matalam Abdullah, DILG ARMM Secretary, informed him that the matter has been officially communicated with Butig Mayor Dimantang Pansar who vowed to conduct an investigation.
The erring officials have been summoned to explain in writing why they should not be reprimanded, or worse, suspended.
Piñol himself posted a photo of the two officials on his Facebook post.
