Miss Bulgaria Violina Ancheva has expressed disappointment on the bashers of the 15-year-old Filipina recipient of her Sherri Hill gown; saying she cannot believe that some people can say those words to a young lady.
In an article written by Isabella Montano of CNN Philippines, it was disclosed that Miss Universe 2016 candidate Ancheva defended Zyra Nicole Cifra, who had been cyberbullied by people who think that she does not deserve the present because of her status in life.
“It’s hard to believe that it is possible (for) somebody to write negative and rude comments to one 15-year-old girl. The decision to give this dress to this girl was mine and you have to respect my decision,” she said in a video message to CNN Philippines.
While many are saying that Cifra is “not poor enough”, her mother Issay Gallano — whose letter to Ancheva made Cifra the “lucky girl” — shared that they are having financial problems every once in a while, too.
“Sometimes I don’t have the money to pay for my children’s tuition fee,” she said.
Ancheva has also called on Cifra’s bashers to stop sending negative messages to the teenage girl.
“(The) sparkle, the dress, the heels, the jewelries aren’t the most important thing in your life. The most important thing is your heart. You teach me that we have to be better person. And one day, all of us can be in need, and we have to be ready to help each other and not to be rude. So people, please stop. Please,” she stated.
