A surprise inspection conducted early Tuesday, February 28, by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 7 inside the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City yielded illegal drugs and other contrabands.
PDEA regional director Yogi Ruiz said 19 sachets of assorted sizes containing suspected shabu, laptops, DVD players, bladed weapons, 80 mobile phones and cash amounting to P92,721 were seized inside the CPDRC during the raid called Operation Greyhound conducted by the PDEA-7 in coordination with the Cebu Provincial Police Office, Special Weapons and Tactics, and Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Central Command.
Ruiz said some of the illegal items were seized inside the detention cell of high-profile inmate and confessed drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro.
All the seized items have been taken to the PDEA office for inventory and proper disposition, as per an ABS-CBN story.
