- He reportedly did not resist arrest and was accompanied by his wife to the police station
- De Lima, on the other hand, appealed for one more night to spend with her family at home before surrendering herself
MANILA, Philippines – Ronnie Dayan, the former bodyguard-driver and alleged lover of Senator Leila De Lima has been arrested in his home in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan on Thursday evening, February 23.
Dayan was among the individuals ordered arrested via the search warrant issued by Presiding Judge Juanita Guerrero of Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 204 on the same day.
Aside from De Lima, others indicted in the complaint earlier filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) are former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director-General Franklin Jesus Bucayu, former BuCor OIC and NBI deputy director Rafael Ragos, Wilfredo Elli, Jaybee Sebastian, Joenel Sanchez and Jose Adrian Dera.
According to the Manila Times, the team that arrested Dayan was led by Urbiztondo town chief of police, Chief Inspector Joshua T. Maximo.
De Lima’s alleged estranged lover reportedly did not resist arrest and was accompanied by his wife to the police station.
Meanwhile, an emotional De Lima appealed for one more night to spend with her family at home. She vowed to return to the Senate on Friday to wait for the arresting team.
