Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 7 seized suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) cleverly concealed in several tea packets during a buy-bust operation in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Friday, February 17.
As per a GMA story, the seized illegal substance, weighing at least one kilogram, has an estimated street value of P6 million.
According to Director Yogi Ruiz, PDEA-7 regional director, the illegal drugs came from China and are set to be divided into 100 grams for easy distribution. He identified the suspect as 56-year-old Rogelio Romo, alias Roger. His arrest came following two weeks of surveillance.
PDEA agents also seized 170 pieces of ammunition for M-16 rifles from the suspect.
Authorities said a deeper investigation would be conducted to identify the suspect’s contacts.
