Angelina, the eldest daughter of estranged couple Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano will be joining the local entertainment industry as a singer.

However, instead of using Montano, Angelina will be using Cruz as a part of her stage name.

In an interview with Boy Abunda, Sunshine explained that since her daughter will be starting as a singer, she believes it would be an advantage for her to use her surname.

ABS-CBN News quoted her as saying: “We all know even Donna is not a Cruz before. When she started she was a Yrastorza bilang a screen name. Even si Rayver and Rodjun, they are Ilustre, pero ginamit ang Cruz kasi nga –well, sabi nila ang mga Cruz ay known musicians. So I think it would be an advantage to use Cruz.”

She admitted that she did not consult Cesar about it but she revealed that veteran talent manager Arnold Vegrafria assured her that he will be the one to talk to Cesar about the matter.

Sunshine and Cesar separated in 2013 and the former filed an annulment of their marriage in 2014. Their three daughters are all under Sunshine’s custody.

The actress shared that although Angelina will be joining showbiz, the latter knows her priorities.

In fact, the two of them signed a written agreement that Angelina will prioritize her studies, and in the event that her studies would suffer because of her showbiz commitments, she would have to stop her showbiz endeavors.

In the same interview, Sunshine revealed that Angelina and her other two daughters get along well with Macky Mathay, her boyfriend.

She added that Macky’s children are close with her daughters as well.

At this point in her life, Sunshine said she could not ask for more.
