The Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has released a footage showing the devastation cause by the 6.7 magnitude earthquake that rocked Surigao Del Norte early this month.
The nearly 4-minute clip showed the February 10 quake’s impact on the province’s terrain, landslides and damaged structures. The video footage, captured by a drone camera, was released on Monday.
The Surigao quake claimed the lives of 8 people and has injured more than 200 others. Damage to property and infrastructure in the province is estimated at P665-M.
According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) more than 300 houses were affected, seven bridges have collapsed and power outage were felt across the 7 municipalities for a time.
It was the strongest earthquake ever to hit the province since the 7.2 magnitude tremor back in a879 and 1893.
