Caluya Shrine: Newest attraction in the Philippines like that of Rio de Janeiro’s statue in Brazil

The Caluya Shrine in Misamis Occidental which is comparable to that of Rio de Janiero’s statue of Jesus Christ the Redeemer in Brazil is being flocked by devotees and tourists because of its breathtaking view of the mountains.

The giant statue of Jesus Christ is located on the hilltop in Barangay Caluya, Sapang Dalaga Misamis Occidental. It is slowly beginning to gain popularity because of its stunning view overseeing the islands of the Municipality Baliangao including Naputhaw Island, Naburos Island and the two bays Casul Bay and Murcielagos Bay.

You have to climb 197 steps to reach the top and experience the panoramic view of the place. Aside from its beautiful and scenic place, visitors can also enjoy the breath of fresh air after a tiring trek to the top. It would be a fulfilling experience if you are a nature-lover and a thrill-seeker.

A few meters away from the Caluya Bay is a serene place where groups or families can enjoy the floating cottages perfect for picnics.

The Shrine is just a few kilometers away from the town’s center and would usually take 30 minutes to commute. Tourists can rent a motorcycle or a habal-habal that would usually cost P320.00 for a round trip stroll to Sapang Dalaga’s Tourist attractions which starts from Caluya Shrine then to Caluya Floating Cottages.
