The Voice US Season 12 is currently in the Blind Auditions phase and another Filipina-American singer is making waves in the show! Meet Gaby Borromeo who joined the contest with her rendition of Leona Lewis’ “Happy.”
As reported by ABS-CBN News, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, the mainstays of the show, were amazed at the tenderness and power of her voice. Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani, on the other hand, gave a few nods of approval. At the end of her performance, Adam Levine quickly gave her a hug as he went up onstage to commend her for a job well done.
Adam Levine expressed his surprise when the performance finished and only two of the judges turned. He said: “I’m very surprised this is not a four-chair turn.” Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani quickly regretted not turning; saying, “Correct me if I’m wrong but when you started singing you seemed like you were nervous. But then as the song progressed, you came through in a way that just blew my mind. You’re unbelievable and you belong on my team.”
In the article by Business2Community, Blake Shelton was all praises with Borromeo; going as far as saying she could ultimately win the show. He said: “It would be a shame to see somebody screw that up for you like Adam. For the moment of truth, Borromeo picked Adam Levine as her coach. Aside from Borromeo, Anatalia Villaranda, another Filipina-American teen, made it past the auditions.
On Twitter, Gaby Borromeo expressed her excitement.
