Donna Sagudang, a Domestic Helper in Hong Kong since 2014, started to fulfill her long-interrupted childhood dream of drawing and painting.
Sagudang came from a poor and big family with seven siblings. She dreamt of having a good life for them so she decided to leave her underprivileged home in Baguio to try her luck in Hong Kong, as per a recent Inquirer story.
She works for six days in a week taking care of a foreign family while being homesick with her own.
Luckily, the people whom she works for happen to be good folks; they let her enjoy her free time doing the thing she loves most– her life-long hobby that is drawing and painting.
It was only last year when she started to draw more frequently. At first, she came up with cartoon characters and celebrities including Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and Jessy Mendiola. Her employer noticed her artworks and allowed her to paint their walls, garden floor, doors, etc. which marked a big impression and happiness to their hearts. Her friends also supported her and loved her artwork of their very own portraits.
Ever since she was a child, she always wanted to draw and sketch lots of ideas; however, pencils were costly in the Philippines, she told Asia Times.
