MANILA, Philippines – Another hostage has been beheaded by the notorious bandits Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) on Holy Thursday; this was confirmed by the military on Easter Sunday.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) identified the victim as Noel Besconde, the captain of FB Ramona 2 who was abducted by the group off Celebes Sea in December last year.
According to Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu. Besconde was executed in western Patikul, Sulu, this Holy Thursday, April 13.
The military official said the execution was conducted by no less than Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan, a subleader of the ASG.
Sobejana said Besconde was ‘very sick’ before his execution and could have affected the movement of the group which is being pursued by the government troops in Sulu.
Besconde was kidnapped last December 20 along with three othera — marine diesel mechanic Reyjim Rocabo, and crew members Roy Ramos and Roel Liones.
The group reportedly demanded ransom in exchange for the release of Besconde, but the family failed to come up with the amount.
