Another controversy involving an airline staff and a passenger has hit the United States on Friday; following a series of similar scandal over the past weeks.
This time, the incident involved an American Airlines steward and a female passenger carrying two babies.
According to several reports on international news websites, a confrontation ensued between the male flight attendant and a woman over a stroller. A video of the episode was shared on Facebook by a user named Surain Adyanthaya.
In the clip, a woman holding a baby can be seen crying while being calmed by fellow passengers.
Adyanthaya said the argument started when the male staff “violently took a stroller from a lady with her baby”; accidentally “hitting her and just missing the baby.”
A concerned male passenger can be seen confronting the flight attendant; saying “Hey bud, hey bud, you do that to me and I’ll knock you flat!” to which the latter replied: “You stay out of this!”
The two traded barbs and nearly came to blows, but nothing really happened. Throughout the video, the female passenger can be heard crying.
In Adyanthaya’s Facebook update, he said the airline “in-voluntarily escorted the mother and her kids off the flight and let the flight attendant back on, who tried to fight other passengers.”
Meanwhile, someone named Eric, who said he was on the same flight and purportedly witnessed the incident, posted his own observations of what reportedly took place before the video was taken.
Note the part which says: “The flight attendant picked up the stroller and lifted it over his head to try and move past the woman. As he was doing this she pushed him and the stroller fell a bit and struck her in the face. She began cryng loudly and dramatically. Shortly after this is where the video begins.”
Meanwhile, the American Airlines has released a statement after the video of the incident went viral on social media. It read:
“What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident. We are making sure all of her family’s needs are being met while she is in our care.”
“The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions. The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident.”
