A dead bat was found inside a prepackaged salad mix sold at a Walmart store in Florida, prompting Fresh Express, producer of the salad mix, to recall their salad products sold in a clear container with production code G089B19 and best-if-used-by date of April 14, 2017.
As per The New York Times, two customers said they found the dead bat inside the prepackaged salad they bought at Walmart. They claimed to have eaten some of the salad before discovering the decomposing animal.
The two alerted authorities; who sent the dead bat to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) laboratory to be tested for rabies. However, the deteriorated condition of the bat did not allow CDC to definitely rule out whether the bat had rabies.
The two customers who have eaten the salad mix were told to undergo rabies treatment. Neither of the customers showed any sign of rabies and were both in good health, according to CDC.
