MANILA, Philippines – Former Ateneo Blue Eagles star Kiefer Ravena has apologized to his family and friends following the alleged photo scandal which made him the trending topic on social media several days ago.
Ravena, who just returned from Singapore after suiting up for Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), has publicly addressed the controversy for the first time; days after a bank employee, who is also an Atenean, was arrested for allegedly spreading the player’s nude photos on the internet.
“Gusto ko mag-apologize with what actually happened. I’m very, very sorry sa nangyari, na sa pag-entertain ko, nauwi siya sa ganitong pangyayari,” Ravena told reporters on Tuesday.
[I would like to apologize for what actually happened. I’m very, very sorry, that in my willingness to entertain, it ended up like this.]
The 23-year-old former UAAP Most Valuable Player apologized to his parents as well as to his siblings, relatives and friends, who look up to him as a role model, for letting them down.
He also said sorry to his girlfriend, volleyball star Alyssa Valdez, whose name was dragged into the controversy.
“Nagso-sorry ako lalo na kay Alyssa. I have no excuse for what happened. I’m very, very sorry sa nangyari. Sa sobrang bait mong tao, hindi ka dapat nalalagay sa ganitong sitwasyon,” he said.

Ravena admitted it was a mistake and something he regret doing as it ‘messed’ a lot of people’s lives, not only his.
For now, he said he just want to concentrate on playing basketball.
Last week, a certain Kristoffer Monico Ng, a 22-year-old bank checking officer was arrested in an entrapment operation in Libis, Quezon City. He is now facing charges of robbery and extortion.
