• President Duterte ordered the military to wipe out the Abu Sayyaf
• The President said all the Abu Sayyaf want is to “kill, kill, kill, kill”
• Duterte said there will be no let up in the campaign against terrorism
President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, April 6, reiterated his earlier order to the military to wipe out the Abu Sayyaf Group. He was in Jolo, Sulu to visit soldiers who were wounded in the recent clash with the Islamist extremist group.
In his speech before the Philippine Army’s 41st Infantry Battalion in Camp Teodulfo Bautista, the President stressed to the troops his tough stand against the Abu Sayyaf, terrorism and illegal drugs.
In a mixture of English and Filipino, President Duterte said just like the anti-illegal drug campaign, there will be no let up in the campaign against terrorism. He then ordered the military to go full force against the Abu Sayyaf.
All the Abu Sayyaf want, the President said, is to kill.
“They would not honor kahit anong klaseng usapan [any kind of talks]. Gusto lang nila patay, patay, patay, patay. ‘Yun lang ang alam nila. Eh ‘di ubusin natin sila eh [All they want is kill, kill, kill, kill. That’s all they know. Let’s finish them],” the Inquirer quoted the President as saying.
