MANILA, Philippines – An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Cebu City stabbed his partner to death with a kitchen knife following an argument inside their house on Sunday night, April 23.
The suspect was identified as Ricardo Baguio, 43, and an OFW who was about to return to his job in the Middle East.
The victim, meanwhile, was his partner, Yvette Taboada, 41, and an employee at the Cebu City Hall Human Resources Department.
Police said Baguio used a kitchen knife to stab the victim and slit her throat inside their rented apartment in Sitio Cogon, Barangay Labangon.
The suspect claimed he ran out of patience after Taboada kept on nagging him while they were watching television. The woman allegedly accused him of having an illicit affair.
However, relatives of the victim said they could not believe Baguio’s claim that Taboada was nagging him because they know it was the suspect who was often jealous of his partner.
The police said the two have been living together for three years.
The suspect is currently detained at Cebu City Police Station 10 while criminal charges are being readied against him.
