National Capital Region Police Office Director Oscar Albayalde ordered the relief of Mandaluyong City Police Chief Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran, Jr. and nine of his men after a shooting incident that led to the ***** of two people.
As mentioned in Inquirer, the lawmen led by Villaceran and some village watchmen fired at a white Mitsubishi Adventure van after they mistook it for the getaway vehicle of a shooting suspect.
They later found out that the van’s passengers were helping the shooting victim, identified as Jonalyn Ambaan, and were taking her to a hospital. One of the van’s passengers was killed, while two others were wounded. Ambaan eventually died in the hospital.
The 10 police officers involved in the shooting incident have been disarmed and placed under restrictive custody. The village watchmen involved in the incident were also placed under police custody.
