Incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director Oscar Albayalde admitted that President Rodrigo Duterte assured him that he will not meddle in the affairs of the PNP.
Albayalde shared that the President’s advice was simple, “just do what is right.”
The incoming Chief was quoted by ABS-CBN saying, “Sabi niya, just do what is right. He will not meddle with our organization, with our decisions. He’ll not meddle with any positioning, lalong-lalo na sa loob ng PNP.”
He also confirmed that he will continue the programs of Director General Ronald dela Rosa against illegal drugs and police scalawags. Albayalde said, “Importante dito is continuity. I will not be staying forever as chief PNP. Over the years, walang natatapos na trabaho because may kaniya-kaniyang gustong identity.” [The important thing is continuity. Over the years, no job is finished because everyone is so focused on making their own identity.]
Albayalde had earlier announced that a revamp on key posts in PNP is in order.
