- A tourist who was reportedly quite drunk ended up accidentally climbing a mountain in the Italian Alps
- Instead of walking back to his resort in Italy’s Valle d’Aosta, not far from the Swiss border, the tourist wound up hiking up a mountainside
A drunk tourist from Estonia got a little drunk and had a very rough night after he got lost on his way back to his hotel and found himself climbing the Italian Alps.
The tourist, who is just known as Pavel, has been enjoying his drinks at Cervenia, a resort in Italy’s Valle d’Aosta, when he decided to call it a night and head back to his hotel.
However, it seemed that Pavel, 30, may have had a bit more to drink than he thought as his short walk back to his room soon wound up hiking up a mountainside, according to local media reports quoted by Yahoo 7.
The man was reportedly “convinced” that he was headed in the right direction.
But instead of his hotel, the tourist found himself in a closed restaurant and bar, along the Alpine slopes.
The bar, named Igloo, was nestled on the mountainside at an altitude of 2,400m and, seeing it as his only refuge, the tipsy tourist forced his way in and bunkered down for the night.
The restaurant staff found Pavel passed on a bench the next morning.
Local police have said that he will be fined for his drunken escapade but will not be charged.
