One week after the boat accident, Ehra Madrigal and husband Tom Yeung finally shared their experience about how their boat sunk in the sea while they were going to an island in Culasi, Antique on March 29, as per a story posted by PEP.
The couple got stuck in the middle of the sea including Bianca Manalo and boyfriend Mayor Jonathan Tan together with six others wherein the cousin and bodyguard of Mayor Tan, Bernie Dable, died because of the incident.
Ehra and Tom had an exclusive interview with News5 entertainment reporter, MJ Marfori, on Thursday, April 5, wherein they shared how “life changing” the tragic experience was for them.
According to Ehra, everything happened so fast that she could hardly remember how their boat sunk. But she had seen the water entering the boat so fast and then one side of the boat started sinking. She said that when the whole part of the boat was already filled with water, her instinct was to jump, even though she wasn’t a swimmer.
“I mean, hindi naman talaga ako swimmer, pero you will do whatever [way] for you to survive. So, ‘yun, parang nag-swimming na lang kami. Tapos parang I can’t hold on dun sa boat, kasi parang dumudulas siya,” she explained.
[I mean, I’m really not a swimmer, but you will do whatever [way] for you to survive. So we started swimming. And then it’s like I couldn’t hold on to the boat because it was slippery.]
They said there’s no one to blame over the incident. But they admitted that not wearing their life vests was their mistake.
Ehra shared that she and her friend Bianca Manalo are checking up on each other on their current situation.
According to Ehra, she considers their experience as a miracle and “life-changing”. They will undergo a debriefing to lessen their trauma caused by the incident.
“Lesson learned, double check everything, always may life vest, everything, double check lahat [all], kasi siyempre kapalit nun buhay [because we’re talking about life],” she said.
She also shared a post on Instagram about their experience; expressing her gratitude towards those who prayed for her and their safety.
