- A hospital in Mandaue City declared the tourist out of danger
A female Chinese tourist was hurt after she fell off a 15-foot cliff in Osmeña Peak in Cebu while she was taking a selfie.
The incident, as per Sun Star, happened on Saturday noon, April 14.
Dulaguete town Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante identified the Chinese tourist as 35-year-old Lau Ten Yan; a married woman from Hong Kong. He said the visitor suffered laceration on her hip and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The tourist, according to the mayor, positioned herself on top of a rock beside the cliff to take a selfie, but she lost her balance because of strong winds and fell. Her companions, tourist guides and the local police rescued Lau.
Junry Tenefrancia, a disaster officer in Dalaguete, said Lau fell about 10 to 15 meters.
Lau was initially brought to the Julio Cardinal Rosales memorial Hospital in Badian town, but was later transferred to the University of Cebu Medical Center in Mandaue City where she has been declared out of danger.
Mayor Cesante advised visitors of the popular tourist destination to avoid staying on the edge of the peak and stay away from other danger areas to prevent similar incidents from happening.
