Veteran trainer Freddie Roach who helped Manny Pacquiao become one of the best boxers in the world admitted being hurt by the termination of his 15-year association with the 39-year-old Pinoy boxer.

Although hurt by the termination of their professional relationship, Roach is not holding a grudge against Pacquiao and still wish the boxer well, as per the Inquirer.

“Manny and I had a great run for 15 years — longer than most marriages and certainly a rarity for boxing. I wouldn’t trade any of it. Inside the boxing ring and the political ring, I wish Manny nothing but the best,” Roach said.

“I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t hurt that he didn’t contact me personally about his decision, but the great times we enjoyed together far outweigh that,” he added.

Roach reportedly learned of his termination as Pacquiao’s trainer through the press. Buboy Fernandez, Pacquaio’s bestfriend, is now handling his training.

“Pacquiao will be joined by his new promotions team along with trainers Restituto ‘Buboy’ Fernandez and Raides ‘Nonoy’ Neri,” Pacquiao’s team said in a press release.

Pacquiao is set to fight Lucas Matthysse of Argentina on July 14. The fight, dubbed as “Fight of Champions,” will be held at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
