- Harold Holland, 83, and Lillian Barnes, 78, got married the first time on a Christmas Eve in 1955
- They both remarried but their second spouses both died in 2015
A couple who divorced half a century ago is now heading down the aisle, again.
According to the Lexington Herald Leader, the 83-year-old groom Harold Holland and 78-year-old bride Lillian Barnes who is from Kentucky, USA were first married on Christmas Eve of 1955.
They had five children together before splitting up in 1967. They stayed friendly though, reports said. Both remarried. Then both their spouses died in 2015.
Holland said his job kept him away from the family prior to the breakup.
“It was 100 percent my fault,” Harold admitted; noting that he worked too much and often left Barnes to care for the children and manage their home.
After their spouses died in 2015, they attended a family reunion, and by last December, they were talking marriage again.
Now, their grandson who is a minister from New Orleans, is set to perform their wedding ceremony on April 14; making it more memorable.
“We decided we want to walk the last mile together,” Holland said.
“I don’t think we ever lost that love, to tell you the truth,” he added.
That’s kind of romantic, right?
