A 38-year-old businessman from Singapore named Jian Yang has a huge collection of ‘Barbie’ dolls in his house.
Because of his 30-year hobby, he now owns more than 10,000 dolls and claims that he had spent more than £350,000.
He said he bought his dolls from his travels around the globe.
Yang, as per reports, started to love Barbie when he accidentally opened his sister’s Christmas gift in 1984.
“I’ve been buying Barbie ever since. So I never started ‘collecting’. I just continued buying. I’ve never even seen myself as a collector,” he said.
He also emphasized social stigma for guys who collect dolls like him and said: “I think there will always be a social stigma for guys who collect dolls, and I’m very proud to say I probably don’t fit into any of those stereotypes.”
17 years ago, I was in university, had blonde surfer streaks and went to raves with glow sticks and without a shirt on. One of the earliest #jiandoll incarnations was born out of that. Here’s a photo an old friend found of us. (If you’re judging this photo, just remember this was the era of the Backstreet Boys and N’sync)
