MANILA, Philippines – Former Marcos lawyer Atty. Oliver Lozano has died on Thursday, April 12; one month after suffering a heart attack. He was 77 years old.
The sad news was announced by his family on Friday.
In a radio interview, Lozano’s wife, Norma, said the veteran lawyer was rushed to the Capitol Medical Center on Wednesday evening after experiencing weakness and weak pulse. He died around 1:45 am on Thursday.
Lozano had a heart surgery (angioplasty) last March 22 and was not able to recover since then.
He is a staunch Marcos loyalist and was the legal counsel of the late strongman; a fellow Ilocano.
Lozano ran for senator at least two times, during the 2004 and the 2007 general elections, and lost on both occasions.
Aside from being a Marcos lawyer, he is perhaps known for filing several impeachment complaints against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo; all of which were junked due to technical deficiency.
Among his last attempt as a lawyer was to propose a settlement between the Marcos family and the Duterte government regarding the alleged ill-gotten wealth. This too, did not prosper until he died.
Lozano’s remains were cremated and his wake is currently at Mt. Carmel Shrine Mortuary Chapel in New Manila, Quezon City.
