Woman from Florida mistakes 37-week pregnancy for bad Chinese food

  • Crystal Gail Amerson, 29, thought food poisoning was responsible for the stomach pains that woke her up early Sunday morning
  • Amerson then learned the real source of her stomach ache when she delivered her second child

A woman from Florida was in a big surprise after mistakenly believing she was having stomach pains from an order of bad Chinese food.

According to PNJ, Crystal Gail Amerson, 29, said she woke up around 4 a.m. Sunday with stomach pains that had her running back and forth between the bathroom and bedroom for more than an hour.

“I had Chinese food the night before and I kind of figured maybe I had food poisoning or something like that,” Amerson said.

But it turned out there was nothing wrong from the meal she ate the previous night. Instead, she was actually 37-weeks pregnant and was on the verge of giving birth.

This is the second son for Amerson and her fiance Brian Westerfield.

She didn’t know she was pregnant?

Dr. Julie DeCesare, an obstetrician-gynecologist with Sacred Heart Hospital, said it is possible for a woman to learn of her pregnancy just hours before going into labor, but in her 20 years of practice, she’s only witnessed it three times.

Baby Oliver is doing great!
