Nine police officers of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 11 were relieved from their posts after being tagged in an extortion incident.

“Lumalabas pagkatapos ng initial report namin, may possible involvement yung chief ng SDEU (Special Drug Enforcement Unit) ng police station 11 together with eight of his men kaya I immediately ordered their relief,” QCPD director Sr. Supt. Joselito Esquivel said on Friday in an interview with Radyo Inquirer.

[Turns out from our initial report that the chief of SDEU of police station 11 together with eight of his men were involved.]

“Hindi po natin tino-tolerate ito sa hanay at liderato ng mga pulis, as a matter of fact ‘yan ang unang-unang sinabi ng ating Police Director General Oscar Albayalde, ‘yong internal cleansing,” he added.

[We do not tolerate this and as a matter of fact, that is the top priority of our police director, the internal cleansing.]

The nine police officers have already been placed under restrictive custody while investigation is underway.

The nine cops allegedly extracted money from a relative of a tipster, who was apprehended at a checkpoint for illegal possession of firearms.
