92-year-old graduate wants to go back to school to learn even more

COLUMBIA — Learning never stops for Annie Dillard.

The 92-year-old woman graduated Wednesday at the Midlands Technical College (MTC) with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts. She’s the oldest among the graduates and in the entire history of the school; marching  along with other graduates who were as young as 16 years old.

She will use her new degree, she said, to work with her daughter, who is a doctor, after retirement.

Her school journey, however, doesn’t stop from her graduation at MTC as she said she’s going back to learn even more. according to Wis TV.

Dillard is currently working as a cosmetologist in Columbia.

She earned a diploma from Allen University in the 60’s to teach but she preferred to stay in the cosmetology business.

According to ABC News, she’s the owner of her own hair salon.

Backed by challenging experiences living through the Civil Rights era, the woman got strengths to succeed.

The new graduate gave an advice to people who think it is too late to learn: “You can make it if you try, but you got to start.”
