Award-winning South African comedian Carvin Goldstone is set to perform in Manila on May 19.
Goldstone will hold a one-night only engagement as part of his “Culture Shock” world tour at the Relik Restaurant and Bar in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Advance tickets are priced at P1,000 while door charge is at P1,250. Seats are limited and ‘happy hour’ starts at 7:00 p.m.
Goldstone describes his brand of comedy as “clean and family-oriented”; often involving church, family life and music.
Goldstone has won several awards including the Madras Masala Comedy Competition in 2006 and winner in Graca Comedy Showdown in 2011 since his first one-man comedy show “No Swearing!” in 2011.
He was nominated in 2016 and 2017 for the South African Comic of the Year during the South African Comics Choice Awards.
Aside from being a comedian, Goldstone is also a multi-awarded journalist; having won four Vodacom Journalist of the Year awards; the highest honor in South African journalism.
“We are quite excited about this show since as far as we know, Carvin is the very first South African stand-up comedian to perform in the Philippines. His brand of comedy has no swearing in his set, which is quite rare for a comic, and his topics are quite diverse,” said Saira Budhrani of Prime i Events.
“Funny One” Ryan Rems from “It’s Showtime” will be Goldstone’s opening act.
On his Instagram, he said: “New country: PHILIPPINES I’ll be returning to this beautiful country after almost a decade with #CultureShock brought to you by @primeievents #worldtour #manila #manilaphilippines #philippines #durban #southafrica. Yes theres gonna be explosions and thor lightning.”
