A Mandaluyong court has found controversial businessman Cedric Lee “guilty beyond reasonable doubt” of kidnapping charges filed by his ex-partner and actress Vina Morales involving their young daughter.

On Monday, the Mandaluyong City Regional Trial Court (RTC) released the decision convicting Lee of kidnapping his daughter with Morales, Ceana, and for failure to return a minor.

“The action of the accused in not immediately returning the custody of minor Ceana was premeditated, intentional and malicious, as he adamantly refused to return the custody of minor Ceana to the private complainant, through her sister, when he is legally obligated to do so,” read the court’s decision penned by Presiding Judge Anthony Fama.

Morales filed the complaint against Lee in 2016 for alleged violation of court order allowing her former boyfriend visitation rights to their daughter every Saturday.

However, the actress-singer stated in her affidavit that Lee detained Ceana for 9 days, from May 13 to 22, 2016 which supposedly resulted to their daughter experiencing “slight behavioral changes” after the incident.

As a result, Lee was ordered to pay a fine of P300 and moral and nominal damages amounting to P50,000.

Lee has vehemently denied kidnapping their daughter; saying Morales owed him 10 days in visitation rights.

He also filed two counts of libel charges against his ex-partner, which has since been dismissed by the court.
