- Ozamis City Councilor Ardot Parojinog has been arrested in Taiwan
- He has been into hiding even before the bloody raid that resulted into his brother’s death
- He was tagged by Duterte as one of the city’s narcopolitician and carries a P5-M bounty on his head
MANILA, Philippines – The fugitive councilor of Ozamis City and a relative of the Parojinogs has been reportedly arrested in Taiwan, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Thursday, May 24.
Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog, brother of slain Ozamis City mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., was tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of the city’s notorious narcopoliticians and has been into hiding even before the bloody raid that killed his brother in July last year.
Duterte offered a P5-M reward for Ardot’s capture in September 2017. He has not been located since January 2017 and the Justice department issued an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) against him in August of the same year.
According to PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, Parojinog is being hunted for his alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
His brother and 14 others were killed in the July 30, 2017 raid; while several members of his family, including Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog, were subsequently arrested and charged in court.
Early this week, the police raided Ardot’s office and inn in Pagadian City where a cache of high-powered weapons and illegal drugs were found.
His arrest came just two days after former Ozamiz City prosecutor Geronimo Marave Jr. was shot dead by an assassin. The victim is a known lawyer for the Parojinog family.
Bulalacao said they are now coordinating with Taiwan authorities to facilitate Parojinog’s repatriation and transfer to the Philippines.
